Single Order Generic Ethernet Access or SoGEA for short, is a method of connecting your business or home to the internet and has been the most common method for a number of years now, previously being marketed as Fibre To The Cabinet or FTTC.
A SoGEA connection differs from a Fibre To The Premises or FTTP install because in an FTTP install a fibre optic cable is ran into your premises from the ducting in the street whereas in a SoGEA connection a fibre cable runs into the cabinet and then a copper cable is used into your premises.
This means that technically a SoGEA connection is slower, although more widely available and at a lower cost.
